Product Details
The Chowkdi rug is a representation of the four sisters' greatest strength: their bond. Meaning 'group of four people,' the rug is divided into four parts. The youngest has a still-developing design sensibility that is raw, which then becomes a little more mature with the older sister's inputs. The second oldest sister brings in janjeera (intricate flower patterns) and jhoomar (chandelier) motifs. The eldest sister has woven in the round pattern. The rug is woven in a consistent yet striking color palette.

Quality Construction

In a meticulous 10-step process, crafting a single hand-knotted rug takes months to complete. With some designs boasting over one million knots, this intricate artistry and precision are upheld by a dedicated community of 50,000+ highly skilled artisans in India.

How it's made: On a loom set up with warps, an artisan ties individual knots on each warp thread, going line by line. Once a line is complete, it is locked in place with a thread of weft, before the next line of knotting begins.
